We are delighted to launch Osteosarcoma Now, the latest step for the Myrovlyits Trust in providing osteosarcoma patients and their families with information, support and choice.
In 2021 we looked into using our experience and knowledge to support other rare cancers in which we could help. We were touched by a personal story of an adolescent close to our hearts with osteosarcoma. Further research and discussions with the community revealed an urgent need to find new treatments. Our mission is to drive research, provide support and improve outcomes for people affected by osteosarcoma.
Osteosarcoma Now is a website to support patients and families across the globe. We talked with doctors all around the world to help develop the content. It provides key information on osteosarcoma and resources to help navigate the medical world. A patient-friendly research blog that summarises the latest research. The website also includes an interactive map of support groups and an events calendar.
Soon we will launching the heart of Osteosarcoma Now, a curated clinical trial database. Each trial has been summarised in accessible language to give a clear picture of its aims, what it involves and who to contact about the trial. We also have information on what clinical trials are and other avenues that can be explored if there currently isn’t a suitable trial.
Alongside our work to help patients and their families, the Myrovlytis Trust is actively funding research into osteosarcoma. We are currently funding two exciting projects looking into new treatments. The projects are being led by Professor Nancy DeMore (Medical University of South Carolina) and Professor Graham Cook (University leeds). We will be sharing their research in our upcoming blogs.
We want Osteosarcoma Now to evolve and reflect the needs of osteosarcoma patients. We also want the research we fund to be relevant and impactful. We are looking for an international panel of patients and family members to join our Osteosarcoma Advisory Board and help direct the charity’s work. Email us at contact@osteosarcomanow.org to find out more.
Osteosarcoma Now was developed to support patients and their families throughout their cancer journey, wherever they live in the world. It is now live and we hope you find it to be a useful resource. Please email us with any questions.
