In March 2025, we sadly lost the founder of the Osteosarcoma Now. His close personal connection to osteosarcoma led them to support the development of Osteosarcoma Now by funding the creation of the website and database. The work itself was carried out by a dedicated staff team who collaborated closely with patients, families and clinicians to shape a resource grounded in real experience and need. Together, this collective effort ensured that reliable, accessible information was made available to the global osteosarcoma community, an impact that continues to be felt today.
New Stewardship of Osteosarcoma Now
In July 2025, stewardship of Osteosarcoma Now was formally taken on by The Bardo Foundation. This transition was not only practical but deeply personal. The two charities share a long-standing working relationship and a strong personal connection rooted in shared values, trust and a common mission to improve outcomes for people affected by osteosarcoma. The Bardo Foundation employed their first employee who was part of the team that originally developed and managed Osteosarcoma Now, securing knowledge of the website and consistency for users.
Osteosarcoma Now sits within The Bardo Foundation’s purpose of supporting outstanding collaborative research and supporting patients and families affected by osteosarcoma. We do this by continuing our direct link to patients and families and by delivering clear, accessible information on clinical trials.
Sarcoma Clinical Trials
2025 demonstrated just how active and vital the global osteosarcoma research landscape remains. Over the course of the year, 81 sarcoma related clinical trials were identified and 20 osteosarcoma specific trials were added to the database. These trials span multiple countries, including the UK, France, the USA and Egypt, highlighting both the widespread nature of osteosarcoma and the importance of international collaboration. Making this information visible, accessible and up to date remains central to the mission of Osteosarcoma Now.
2026: A Year of Improvement
The ONTEX (Osteosarcoma Now Trial Explorer) clinical trial database will undergo a major overhaul in 2026. The database was created in 2021. Advances in artificial intelligence since its inception will allow the platform to run more effectively behind the scenes, while becoming even more user friendly for those who rely on it. This next phase will focus on clarity, accessibility and smarter navigation, ensuring patients, families, clinicians and researchers can find relevant clinical trial information more easily and with greater confidence. Our objective is to ensure that users receive timely updates from the database, and to enhance the service’s automation for end users.
